ADS|Survey
survey@adsireland.ie

The majority of archaeological work requires some level of survey, from the setting out and tying-in of archaeological excavations to the recording of historic buildings. The survey work could extend to geophysical survey, topographic survey and GIS.

Our dedicated team of experienced surveyors employ all forms of landscape, archaeological and building survey techniques.

Our experience of working closely alongside developers means we can ensure that our surveys take place quickly and efficiently, by designing them in a targeted and selective way to control costs and integrate seamlessly with your applications.

ADS surveyors utilise a range of building recording techniques in order to meet the specific needs of development and conservation projects. Using detailed photogrammetry, measured survey, EDM survey and laser scans, ADS can create a complete record of the built environment.

ADS use CAD computer mapping, illustration and GIS technologies using ARC GIS. We are capable of producing computer-generated maps and digital terrain models in formats compatible with a variety of databases and CAD systems to suit A4/A3 size standard document format in colour. Our GIS and database capabilities allow integration of cultural resource data with other environmental and design data layers systems. All field data is collected with Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers and the data can be directly integrated into GIS, increasing the degree of accuracy when recording archaeological sites and other cultural features.

ADS also works as the Irish partner with the geophysics specialist service provider Poselt & Zickgraf Prospektionen, GbR, European leader in geomagnetic and geo-electric geophysical investigation of archaeological sites, again leading the way in the introduction of advanced technology into archaeological study.
